Familie Trixl - your hosts in the Hotel Edelweiss

The Hotel Edelweiss Hochfilzen is a traditional one. In 2014 they were celebrating the 40th anniversary. Today´s CEO is Sebastian Trixl who took over from his father, who was the founder of the Hotel. Before the Family Trixl founded the Hotel it was a traditional, Austrian style Pub.

The agriculture of the family Trixl in Hochfilzen

First of all, we have to make something clear straight away - at the Hotel Edellweiss in Hochfilzen, you get no farm holidays. The agriculture, which is operated by Sebastian Trixl and his father, is not in the Hotel Edelweiss or next to it. The agriculture is about 2-3 kilometers far from the hotel, in another part of Hochfilzen.

In the Restaurant and the Hotel, the family Trixl is partly serving you food out of the area around Hochfilzen. Our guests should benefit from fresh, healthy and local products without artificial food additives and without a long transportation. The food in the hotel and at the Gasthof Edelweiss is not only sustainable, it is understandable and leaves no large ecological footprint behind. Therefore, you can eat to your heart without any bad conscience.

That serves you well

The best we can offer you, is certainly our meat from our own production. You always know where the steak on you plate comes from. Speaking of Steaks - now we are on the local point of our restaurants. Our steak weeks in autumn are well known and attract many guests from near and far.

  • The 70´s and 80´s - Time for improvement

    In this purpose, the first extension and conversion took place in 1975. Therefore the family Trixl built a second floor, renewed the roof and built a rear annex.
    1976, the road to a hotel has been continued. The "Stüberl" was born, guest rooms have been expanded to a total amount of 27, and the facade was redone.
    In 1979, they constructed their private flat and the number of rooms has been extended to 33. With entrepreneurial vision, the basic for the present hall was created with a "concrete-base-plate".
    1982,  the Trixls began to go a new way. In addition to the construction of the grand dining room, the bed capacity was further increased to 50. Groundbreaking at this time was the construction of the sauna and solarium. The family changed the name to Gasthof Hotel Edelweiss and got rewarded with the third star.

  • Into a new age

    In the nineties, there was also a lot going on around the hotel Edelweiss in Hochfilzen . The Trixl family has continued to invest in the Hotel and 1994 they installed a guest lift . At the same time the staircase was completely renewed .

    1997 was a wild year in the Hotel Edelweiss - changes everywhere. The rear garage was ripped down to create room for the seminar area . New rooms and apartments have been constructed and a children's playground was born. The relaxation area around sauna and solarium was renewed and the number of beds increased further to 60.

  • The best is yet to come

    Around the turn of the millennium was still not an end with construction and remodeling. For a better first impression the reception was completely rebuilt . Instead of the old one , the now very popular " Alm " appeared in the entrance. The hotel was heightened with the 3rd floor and the number of beds increased to 68

    As you can see - with the family Trixl is everything, but no stand still. Sebastian and his wife move with the times and not just follow trends, they set some. All this without losing tradition and coziness. Isn´t that a good reason to spend your Holidays in the Hotel Edelweis Hochfilzen?
